Terrapin Flyer Live at The Venue on 2023-07-13

On a beautiful summer evening, the patio door at The Venue in Aurora, Illinois swung open, allowing the pleasant weather to enhance the ambiance for a special concert by Terrapin Flyer, a Grateful Dead tribute band.

What made this particular performance even more significant was the farewell of Sarah Garcia, General Manager of The Venue, who would be stepping down at the end of July. It was her last Terrapin Flyer show, adding a bittersweet touch to the event. The band members took a moment to express their gratitude and bid their heartfelt see-you-laters, which set the tone for an evening filled with emotion and nostalgia.

Returning after a short break, Terrapin Flyer dove into the second set with an electrifying introduction. “Victim Or The Crime” and “Foolish Heart” had the audience dancing and swaying to the rhythm, while “Looks Like Rain” brought a contemplative mood. The band’s rendition of “New Speedway Boogie” injected a dose of excitement, seamlessly transitioning into “Cryptical Envelopment.” The drum solo and spacey interlude that followed paved the way for the powerful performance of “The Other One.” As the set neared its end, the band evoked a sense of reflection with “Comes A Time” before closing the second set with an invigorating rendition of “Sugar Magnolia.”

The crowd’s enthusiastic applause demanded an encore, and Terrapin Flyer did not disappoint.
